Coldest Spot On Planet Earth
Parts of the Prairies saw temperatures plunge into the minus 20s and 30s last week feeling closer to the -40s when you factor in the wind chill. Ridiculously cold right? Not when you consider the coldest place on Earth. "It is a high ridge in Antarctica on the East Antarctic Plateau where temperatures in several hollows can dip below minus 133.6 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 92 degrees Celsius) on a clear winter night," NASA says. Newly analyzed data from East Antarctica indicate the remote region has set a new record low at -94.7°C or -135.8 degrees Fahrenheit. It happened in August, 2010 and is based on NASA satellite data. "That is several degrees colder than the previous low of minus 128.6 F (minus 89.2 C), set in 1983 at the Russian Vostok Research Station in East Antarctica," says NASA.
400 Pacific Northwest Stations Fall Below Zero
“Historic December cold descended upon parts of the (U.S.) Pacific Northwest early Sunday morning, as the mercury dipped to as low as -41 degrees below zero in Oregon,” says the Albany Tribune. “Under a thick blanket of snow, several locations set new records. (All temperatures are in Fahrenheit.)
“At Lakeview, Oregon the mercury dropped to -27 degrees below zero, setting a new all-time record for that location. The previous record was -22 degrees below zero set back in February of 1933 and again in January of 1937.
Perhaps even more impressive was on the west side of the Cascade mountains where Eugene, Oregon fell to -10 degrees below zero Sunday morning. Eugene’s all-time record low of -12 degrees below zero was set on this very day back in 1972, making today the second coldest day in Eugene modern day history. Records date back more than 123 years (to 1890) in Eugene.
Other daily records were also set in Vancouver, Washington and many other stations.
Here are some of the Sunday morning low temperatures for selected cities;
Burns, Oregon = -30 degrees below zeroEqually impressive was the fact that out of nearly 750 stations reporting across Oregon this morning, more than 400 of them fell below zero last night.
Lakeview, Oregon = -27 degrees below zero (NEW ALL-TIME RECORD)
Redmond, Oregon = -27 degrees below zero
Eugene, Oregon = -10 degrees below zero. This was Eugene’s second coldest low on record (since 1890). All-time record low is -12 degrees.
Salem, Oregon = 8 degrees
Vancouver, Washington = 9 degrees (new record for the day)
Portland, Oregon (International Airport) = 12 degrees
Astoria, Oregon (along the coast) = 13 degrees
Not only below zero, many stations (more than 70 of them) dropped to the -20, -30, even -35 range.See entire article:

50,000 angry Poles rally against UN attempts ‘to steal away our liberties’ – Video
“This is simply an excuse for more government oppression.”
As more than 50,000 enthusiastic Poles gathered in downtown Warsaw on Monday to celebrate National Independence Day, with millions more watching on live television, CFACT president David Rothbard was invited to the stage to deliver an impassioned address celebrating freedom and warning against the dangerous and oppressive climate agenda of the UN.
CFACT President David Rothbard addresses Polish National Independence Day rally in Warsaw, Poland, 11 November 2013
Before what was one of the largest audiences to ever hear a speech denouncing UN global warming policies, Rothbard said he was honored to stand with the Poles in a “new battle for freedom against those who would use environmental and climate alarmism to steal away our liberties and give international bureaucrats control over our energy sources, our daily lives, our prosperity, and our national sovereignty.”
The address was carried live on national television and covered by a large number of international media outlets. It took place just as the UN was kicking off its COP19 climate conference a few kilometers away.
Rothbard noted that at last year’s COP meeting, UN climate chief Christiana Figueres said that what the UN was undertaking is “a complete economic transformation of the world.”
“This is not good news for those who love freedom, and it is not good news for Poland,” Rothbard asserted.
The crowd gave hearty consent to Rothbard’s message.
“There hasn’t been any global warming in more than 15 years,” he noted, “and this is simply an excuse for more government oppression.”
The UN made a big mistake choosing Poland to host its global warming treaty summit. The Poles see right through warming propaganda. Enduring generations of socialism has left them with a deep distaste for propaganda and bureaucratic control. Polish prosperity was blocked first by war and then by ideology. Poland deserves freedom and prosperity and knows it can’t move forward without energy. The brave Poles are not about to cede their sovereignty to UN control.
CFACT, which has been an officially recognized NGO at UN conferences for nearly two decades, will be in Warsaw throughout the two weeks of COP 19. Its delegation will be headlined by Apollo VII astronaut Col. Walter Cunningham who is highly critical of UN climate science.

It’s Not Just Winter, It’s a New Ice Age
It’s Not Just Winter, It’s a New Ice Age
By Alan Caruba
When you consider that a bunch of global warming propagandists, the 19th Conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, to reduce “greenhouse gas” emissions has been meeting in Warsaw this month are still claiming that we are in the midst of global warming, you have a demonstration of how great a hoax has been perpetrated on the peoples of the world.
These people and the scientists who supplied the falsified and inaccurate climate models to support the global warming claims have committed a criminal fraud.
Bit by bit, the truth in the form of increasingly cold weather is causing people to wonder whether they are being duped. The media has either buried the stories of extraordinary cold events or continues to tip-toe around the truth.
An example is a recent Wall Street Journal article by Robert Lee Hotz, “Strange Doings on the Sun”, Hotz reported that “Researchers are puzzled. They can’t tell if the lull is temporary or the onset of a decades-long decline, which might ease global warming a bit by altering the sun’s brightness or the wavelengths of its light.”
After describing the fact that the Sun has entered a period of reduced sunspot activity, always a precursor to a cooling cycle and even an ice age, Dr. David Hathaway, head of the solar physics group at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, is quoted as saying “It may give us a brief respite from global warming, but it is not going to stop it.”
Plainly said, you cannot trust what government scientists have to say about global warming. The government’s policy since the late 1980s has been that global warming is real and poses a great threat to the Earth. What Dr. Hathaway and other “warmists” are desperately trying to ignore is the fact that the Earth entered a natural and predictable cooling cycle around 1997 or 1998. It has been cooling ever since!
In 1997 Robert W. Felix authored the definitive book on the coming ice age in his book, “Not by Fire but by Ice.” It is still widely available. His website, IceAgeNow.info provides updated information on the many weather events around the world that demonstrate an ice age—whether it is a mini-ice age or a full-scale one—is occurring. Felix says that a major Ice Age, when it begins, will come on very swiftly.
One post on Felix’s website is about Victor Emanuel Velasco Herrera, a geophysicist at the University of Mexico, who predicts that the “Earth will enter a ‘Little Ice Age’ which will last from 60 to 80 years and may be caused by the decrease in solar activity.” You don’t have to be a geophysicist to figure out that less solar activity adds up to a colder Earth.
2014 is the year many scientists believe an ice age, “mini” or full-scale will begin. Herrera hedged his prediction saying that “with the mass production of current carbon dioxide (CO2) it is unlikely that we will see a major ice age like the one experienced 12,000 years ago.” Carbon Dioxide plays no role in warming the Earth. It is a very minor element of the Earth’s atmosphere.
The implications of an ice age, no matter how long or short, is its impact on the growing of crops to feed everyone. Dr. Tim Patterson of Canada’s Carleton University’s Department of Earth Sciences, in a May 18, 2007 article in the Calgary Times, wrote that satellite data “shows that by the year 2020 the next solar cycle is going to be solar cycle 25—the weakest one since the Little Ice Age (that started in the 13th century and ended around 1860)…should be a great strategic concern in Canada because nobody is farming north of us.
In other words, Canada—the great breadbasket of the world—might not be able to grow grains in much of the prairies.” This prediction applies as well, of course, to the U.S. production of grains.
Other scientists have been sounding the alarm, predicting dramatic cooling to begin in the current decade. Dr. Oleg Sorokhtin, a Fellow of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, has noted that “Earth has passed the peak of its warmer period and a fairly cold spell will set in quite soon, by 2012, real cold will come when solar activity reaches its minimum, by 2041, and will last for 50-60 years or even longer.” While the years cited by scientists may differ, they are in agreement that we are looking at decades of cold.
In the years since the late 1980s when “global warming” was unleashed on the world as the greatest hoax of the modern era, billions have come to believe the Earth was threatened by greater warming cause by man-made “greenhouse gases” resulting from industrial and all other uses of fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas. While carbon dioxide has, indeed, increased in the atmosphere, the truth is that the Earth has entered a cooling cycle and that it is on the cusp of very cold weather for decades. We could even cross over into a full-fledged Ice Age because one is overdue at this point in time.
You cannot depend on what the mass media tells you. They are hardwired to continue the global warming hoax. You can, however, educate yourself with books such as Robert Felix’s. You can use Google to find out more about ice ages. You can and should prepare yourself for changes in the Earth’s climate that will have vast impacts on the global economy and on the ability to grow enough crops to feed the world’s population.

The Climate Brick Road Video
Boated Sex Poodle Still Stranded
How fortunate Mr. Gore and Generation Investment Management (GIM) were able to secure a half-page "opinion" piece in the October 30, 2013 Wall Street Journal. Readers should be grateful that GIM is so concerned for their financial well-being that they wrote this exposé of misguided investments in fossil fuels. The article reads like a self-serving stock prospectus designed to persuade potential investors sell off or short carbon assets, lest they be "stranded" with toxic investments.
Perhaps GIM would then be so kind as to take those freed funds under
its own management and redirect them to the profitable "renewables"
niche market in which they specialize.
Mr. Gore himself is stranded with the outsized and unfulfilled climate catastrophe claims of his 2006 An Inconvenient Truth. They live on in this latest anti-carbon crusade. The central claim of the WSJ article of a "consensus within the scientific community that increasing the
global temperature by more than 2˚C will likely causing devastating and irreversible damage to the planet"
is unsubstantiated.
Quoting a mythical consensus does not qualify as scientific truth. The inconvenient, but factual, truth is that even as atmospheric carbon dioxide has risen about 9% the past 15 years, global temperatures have remained level. Sea level rates of rise have not accelerated; no major hurricanes have stuck the U.S. since 2005.
Fossil fuels remain the mainstay of reliable energy production, here and overseas. Coal-based energy production is increasing on a worldwide basis. Germany exemplifies this trend as the energy void created by closures of their nuclear power plants is being filled by coal-fired electrical generation.
Like the iconic polar bears used to promote global warming catastrophe, Mr. Gore is now the one stranded on an Arctic ice floe of shrinking credibility.

Climate Expert Warns of Impending Global Cooling Crisis
BY: Washington Free Beacon Staff
A prominent climate scientist says the earth actually faces a global cooling crisis on the eve of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) release of its latest climate change report.
David Archibald, an Australian scientist and visiting fellow at the The Institute of World Politics (IWP) in Washington, D.C., said during an IWP presentation Wednesday that contrary to a perceived consensus among the scientific community, the planet’s climate is not warming. Global temperatures have essentially remained flat in the last thirty years, he said.
While temperatures have increased by a modest 0.8 degrees Celsius in the last 150 years, that rise is unremarkable compared to previous increases in earth’s history, he said. Temperature spikes have occurred for hundreds of thousands of years and were slightly higher in the Roman Empire and Medieval periods, he added, according to a Swedish study and data from ice cores in Vostok, Antarctica.
Additionally, about 80 percent of the warming that has occurred can be attributed to water vapor compared to about 10 percent for carbon dioxide, said Archibald. The IPCC’s report, scheduled for release Friday, is expected to state with 95 percent certainty that greenhouse-gas emissions generated by humans are responsible for 20th century warming.
“The IPCC models have failed,” Archibald said, adding that meetings like the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark are “hilarious.”
Archibald, credited as the first scientist to develop a method for using solar sunspot cycles to predict temperatures, instead said solar activity suggests global temperatures will cancel out previous warming and fall 2 to 3 degrees Celsius by 2040.
That could wreak havoc on the world’s food supply by potentially reducing global grain production by 400 million tonnes—mirroring the skyrocketing crop costs and 200,000 European deaths sparked by the 1816 eruption of Mt. Tambora in Indonesia.
“There will be at least one consolation. Phil Jones, Michael Mann, James Hansen and Al Gore will all, most likely, still be around to see their entire religious belief system collapsing around their ears,” wrote James Delingpole, a writer for the Telegraph, in a post last year on Archibald’s work.

Antarctic sea ice hit 35-year record high Saturday
(NSIDC)
Antarctic sea ice extent on September 22 compared to 1981-2010 median depicted by orange curve (NSIDC)
On Saturday, the ice extent reached 19.51 million square kilometers, according to data posted on the National Snow and Ice Data Center Web site. That number bested record high levels set earlier this month and in 2012 (of 19.48 million square kilometers). Records date back to October 1978.
The increasing ice is especially perplexing since the water beneath the ice has warmed, not cooled.
“The overwhelming evidence is that the Southern Ocean is warming,” said Jinlun Zhang, a University of Washington scientist, studying Antarctic ice. “Why would sea ice be increasing? Although the rate of increase is small, it is a puzzle to scientists.”
In a new study in the Journal of Climate, Zhang finds both strengthening and converging winds around the South Pole can explain 80 percent of the increase in ice volume which has been observed.
“The polar vortex that swirls around the South Pole is not just stronger than it was when satellite records began in the 1970s, it has more convergence, meaning it shoves the sea ice together to cause ridging,” the study’s press release explains. “Stronger winds also drive ice faster, which leads to still more deformation and ridging. This creates thicker, longer-lasting ice, while exposing surrounding water and thin ice to the blistering cold winds that cause more ice growth.”
But no one seems to have a conclusive answer as to why winds are behaving this way.
“I haven’t seen a clear explanation yet of why the winds have gotten stronger,” Zhang told Michael Lemonick of Climate Central.
Some point to stratospheric ozone depletion, but a new study published in the Journal of Climate notes that computer models simulate declining – not increasing – Antarctic sea ice in recent decades due to this phenomenon (aka the ozone “hole”).
“This modeled Antarctic sea ice decrease in the last three decades is at odds with observations, which show a small yet statistically significant increase in sea ice extent,” says the study, led by Colorado State University atmospheric scientist Elizabeth Barnes.
A recent study by Lorenzo Polvani and Karen Smith of Columbia University says the model-defying sea ice increase may just reflect natural variability.
If the increase in ice is due to natural variability, Zhang says, warming from manmade greenhouse gases should eventually overcome it and cause the ice to begin retreating.
“If the warming continues, at some point the trend will reverse,” Zhang said.
However, a conclusion of the Barnes study is that the recovery of the stratospheric ozone layer – now underway – may slow/delay Antarctic warming and ice melt.
Ultimately, it’s apparent the relationship between ozone depletion, climate warming from greenhouse gases, natural variability, and how Antarctic ice responds is all very complicated. In sharp contrast, in the Arctic, there seems to be a relatively straight forward relationship between temperature and ice extent.
Related: Arctic sea ice has *not* recovered, in 7 visuals
Thus, in the Antarctic, we shouldn’t necessarily expect to witness the kind of steep decline in ice that has occurred in the Arctic.
“…the seeming paradox of Antarctic ice increasing while Arctic ice is decreasing is really no paradox at all,” explains Climate Central’s Lemonick. “The Arctic is an ocean surrounded by land, while the Antarctic is land surrounded by ocean. In the Arctic, moreover, you’ve got sea ice decreasing in the summer; at the opposite pole, you’ve got sea ice increasing in the winter. It’s not just an apples-and-oranges comparison: it’s more like comparing apple pie with orange juice.”

Ice delays supply barge for Western Arctic communities
As much as 30 to 40 per cent of the Arctic Ocean
remains covered in ice, disrupting supply barges to northern
communities. (Canadian Press)
Ice buildup in the Amundsen Gulf is responsible for barge delays that
have many Northern coastal communities running short on supplies.
Normally, a supply barge arrives in the area in early summer to replenish stocks of fuel and other necessities in those communities. But this year, that trip is being held up by ice. As much as 30 to 40 per cent of the Arctic Ocean remains covered in ice.
"We have not seen ice with this type of coverage in quite a few years and I really don't know how far back we might've seen it," says Bill Smith, a spokesman with Northern Transportation Company Ltd., which services the communities.
"This year, ice has been a big negative factor for us in attempting to move from the [Tuktoyaktuk] area east through the Amundsen Gulf and into the Coronation Gulf," he said.
As a result, the communities of Sachs Harbour and Ulukhaktok will have to wait another few days before their supplies get replenished.
The barge will be leaving Tuktoyaktuk either late Tuesday or first thing Wednesday morning, and the trip to Sachs Harbour normally takes about two days.
It's carrying fuel and more than a hundred tonnes of dry cargo. Once it unloads in Sachs, it will move on to Ulukhaktok.

Scientists Warn Obama Of Impending Little Ice Age
“Could be the equivalent of a nuclear winter.”
“Sleepy Solar Cycle Foretells Icy Decades Ahead,” say Friends of Science. “Global Cooling is more likely than Global Warming.”
A Little Ice Age is predicted based on solar patterns. It could be the equivalent of a nuclear winter, says Len Maier, president of Friends of Science. “At such a time, an abundance of carbon dioxide (CO2) would be a benefit. CO2 helps crops grow.”
NASA – Solar patterns are repeating themselves right now
The last “Little Ice Age,” from about 1350-1850, coincided with a period of very low sunspot activity, frigid temperatures and crop failures. NASA reports that such solar patterns are repeating themselves right now as the sun’s cycle 24 “maximum” peaks.
This winter and spring, snow storms blanketed the US and Europe in unexpected fury. This despite Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) scientists previous claims that global warming would make snowfall “a very rare and exciting event“.
Climate models issued by the IPCC overestimated the warming trends in the tropical atmosphere since 1979 by a factor four. Climatologist Roy Spencer from the University of Alabama in Huntsville calls this an “epic failure for the models“.
Governments not prepared for the food crisis
According to Maier, governments are not prepared for the food crisis that would result from global cooling – a 1 or 2 degree drop in temperature.
“Millions of acres of arable land would cease production,” says Maier.
The total solar magnetic flux impact on climate is about seven times greater than what is expected from solar heat changes alone.
“There is clear evidence that temperatures are slowly declining, as is solar activity,” says Friends of Science director Ken Gregory.
No global warming in 16 years
There’s been no global warming in 16 years despite a rise in CO2. The most recent leaked draft of the IPCC’s upcoming report admits there has been no global warming in 15+ years as does the UK Met weather office. Model projections of temperature and snowfall were ridiculously wrong.

On The Threshold Of An Ice Age
“Unavoidable advance towards a deep temperature drop.”
Peter Ferrara, Forbes Contributor, has written a wonderful article entitled “To The Horror Of Global Warming Alarmists, Global Cooling Is Here.”
“On the threshold of a mini-Maunder event”
In that article he quotes NASA’s Science News report for January 8, 2013,
“This same concern is increasingly being echoed worldwide,” Ferrara continues, quoting from The Voice of Russia on April 22, 2013,
That report quoted Yuri Nagovitsyn of the Pulkovo Observatory saying, “Evidently, solar activity is on the decrease. The 11-year cycle doesn’t bring about considerable climate change – only 1-2%. The impact of the 200-year cycle is greater – up to 50%. In this respect, we could be in for a cooling period that lasts 200-250 years.” In other words, another Little Ice Age.
The German Herald reported on March 31, 2013,

Peter Ferrara, Forbes Contributor, has written a wonderful article entitled “To The Horror Of Global Warming Alarmists, Global Cooling Is Here.”
“On the threshold of a mini-Maunder event”
In that article he quotes NASA’s Science News report for January 8, 2013,
“Indeed, the sun could be on the threshold of a mini-Maunder event right now. Ongoing Solar Cycle 24 [the current short term 11 year cycle] is the weakest in more than 50 years. Moreover, there is (controversial) evidence of a long-term weakening trend in the magnetic field strength of sunspots. Matt Penn and William Livingston of the National Solar Observatory predict that by the time Solar Cycle 25 arrives, magnetic fields on the sun will be so weak that few if any sunspots will be formed. Independent lines of research involving helioseismology and surface polar fields tend to support their conclusion.”“That is even more significant,” says Ferrara, “because NASA’s climate science has been controlled for years by global warming hysteric James Hansen, who recently announced his retirement.”
“This same concern is increasingly being echoed worldwide,” Ferrara continues, quoting from The Voice of Russia on April 22, 2013,
“Global warming which has been the subject of so many discussions in recent years, may give way to global cooling. According to scientists from the Pulkovo Observatory in St.Petersburg, solar activity is waning, so the average yearly temperature will begin to decline as well. Scientists from Britain and the US chime in saying that forecasts for global cooling are far from groundless.”“Another Little Ice Age”
That report quoted Yuri Nagovitsyn of the Pulkovo Observatory saying, “Evidently, solar activity is on the decrease. The 11-year cycle doesn’t bring about considerable climate change – only 1-2%. The German Herald reported on March 31, 2013,
“German meteorologists say that the start of 2013 is now the coldest in 208 years – and now German media has quoted Russian scientist Dr Habibullo Abdussamatov from the St. Petersburg Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory [saying this] is proof as he said earlier that we are heading for a “Mini Ice Age.” Talking to German media the scientist who first made his prediction in 2005 said that after studying sunspots and their relationship with climate change on Earth, we are now on an ‘unavoidable advance towards a deep temperature drop.’”“Faith in Global Warming is collapsing…”

India – 24,142 animals and 50 people killed due to excessive rain and snow
As many as 50 persons have lost their lives in the state till date in current monsoon season. This written statement was tabled in the house today by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
“About 24,142 animals including sheep, goat, cattle and mules have perished due to excessive rainfall and snowfall.”
District Kinnaur reported 23 deaths, 7 deaths in Shimla district, 4 in Kangra, 5 in Sirmaur, 6 in Mandi, 3 in Kullu, 1 in Hamirpur and 1 in Chamba.
Unprecedented heavy rainfall
“We experienced an early monsoon this year. From 15th to 17th June, incessant and heavy rains lashed various parts of the state coupled with cloudbursts at several places. The state experienced an unprecedented heavy rainfall during these three days. Kinnaur and Sirmaur were the worst affected districts,” said Singh.
Untimely snow
Kinnaur also received untimely snow during this period at several places. Since then, heavy rains have lashed various parts of the state almost on a daily basis causing massive damage to private and public property.
As many as 5287 housing structures including Pucca and Kuchha houses, cowsheds, labour sheds, shops etc. have been fully or partially damaged in various parts of the state due to landslides triggered by heavy rain and snowfall.
